Phillip Wayne Trueblood, Jr., 77, of Roper died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.

Born October 5, 1935 in Washington County he was the son of the late Phillip Wayne Trueblood, Sr. and Helen Reichle Trueblood and was preceded in death by his sister, Judy T. Lilly. Wayne was a retired Master Sergeant with 22 years service in the United States Army and member of Holly Neck Church of Christ. After his retirement he owned and operated a lawn service business and was commander and member of American Legion Post 391.

His family includes his wife, Betty Comer Trueblood of Roper, N.C.; daughters, Cheryl Barboza and husband Kerry of San Antonio, TX., Susan Trueblood of Taneytown, MD and April Trueblood of Frisco, N.C.; sister, Barbara Ray of Elizabeth City, N.C. and brother, Jerry Trueblood of Jamesville, N.C.

Funeral service will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Holly Neck Church of Christ, Roper with Dave Watts, Phillip Alligood and Thomas Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, Octobr 6, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth and other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the American Legion Scholarship Fund.
