Ruby graduated from Sargent High School, Sargent, Nebraska in 1930. Following high school, she worked as a housekeeper for several years before returning home to nurse her mother through a lengthy illness.
On November 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Raymond A. "Ray" Lomme at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Spalding, Nebraska. Ruby and Ray farmed south of Spalding, Nebraska for many years, until retiring and moving into Spalding, Nebraska in 1970. After moving to town, Ruby worked at the Spalding (NE.) Livestock Market Café for several years. Ruby entered Friendship Villa, Spalding, Nebraska in 1989. When Friendship Villa closed in 2011, she moved to the nursing home in Blair, Nebraska near her daughter.
Ruby and Ray were blessed with four children. Ruby was active in St. Michael's Church, Spalding, Nebraska and was involved in the Women's Circle. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and was known as an excellent cook and homemaker. Family was important to Ruby and she enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family members. Later in life, she enjoyed reading and television.
Ruby Irene Lomme, formerly of Spalding, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community, Blair, Nebraska surrounded by her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol Hultberg of Blair, Nebraska, John Lomme of Columbus, Nebraska and friend Vickie Fritzges of St. Edward, Nebraska and Janet Lomme of Tipp City, Ohio; grandchildren, Tina Kafonek of Omaha, Nebraska, Jim Hultberg of Blair, Nebraska and Cheryl Schultz of Tipp City, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Parker, Jackson, Peter, Hank, Thomas, Henry, Rachel and Shaina; great-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn and a host of family and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by: husband, Raymond A. "Ray" Lomme in 1974; infant daughter in 1947; parents, Samuel and Frances Kehler; sisters, Alta, Emma, Mildred, Pauline and Orvia; brothers, Clyde, Elmer, Earl, Mike and Bud.
Interment was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Spalding, Nebrska.
