C.E. BOLIN, was born in California, but came to Missouri when 3 years old. He came to Winona in 1891 with $300, and worked a few years as a clerk, when, with his savings, he engaged in business for himself. His capital was limited, but not so his business acumen, for today he owns the second largest store in town with a stock valued at $4000, also the building he occupies, one of the nicest residences in the city, some town lots and 240 acres of land. He carries a complete line of general merchandise, and has a good trade, 1899 being his banner year, with sales aggregating in the vicinity of $20,000. He is a Democrat, an Odd Fellow and is married. His wife conducts a millinery department in connection with the store and has an elegant line of millinery goods of all kinds. She is a handsome and accomplished lady, with decided taste and much business ability.
