Funeral services for Ms. Ethel Mayo Hartley Reed, 100, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brown Memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. The Reverends Andy Perryman and Matt Chance will officiate.
Born in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Marion D. Mayo and Sally Harrison Mayo Stephens. She has made Arkansas her home for the past four years. She was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher and the Sodolitan Sunday School Class. She was retired as a school teacher after 31 years of service. She was also a member of the Retired Educators of Georgia Association. She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late O.P. Hartley and the Rev. W.H. Reed. She was also preceded in death by a son, the late Mayo Hartley. Ms. Reed died early Saturday morning.
