Hattie Evelyn Leatherwood Thomasson, age 88 of Murphy, NC passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.
She was a native of Cherokee County, NC; daughter of the late Math and Elizabeth Barker Leatherwood. Evelyn was a homemaker. She loved gardening and oil painting. Evelyn was a member of Upper Peachtree Baptist Church and she sang in the choir. She was a former member of the Peacthree Trio.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hill Thomasson; one son, Hill Steve Thomasson; two sisters, Lori Brendle and Eva Leatherwood and one grandson, Josh Thomasson.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Thomasson, Rick Thomasson; one daughter, Sandy E. Graves; one sister, Dorothy Curtis of Murphy, NC; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Dr. Chester Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews, NC. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
