Glad graduated from DeForest High School in 1951. After graduating she moved to downtown Madison and started her banking career at First National Trust where she met her husband, Mercy. They later married on September 29, 1953, and then moved to Virginia, later returning to Verona where she worked at the Bank of Verona for over 30 years as a bookkeeper/teller. Glad was an active member of the Verona American Legion Post 385 where she was an officer, being in charge of bookings, and running the kitchen. She was a 70-year member of Salem United Church of Christ, Verona, serving in many positions such as the women's guild, counsel, and helping with funeral luncheons. She served on the board of directors for the senior center and was involved in both Boys and Girls Scout as a troop leader. Glad bowled in many leagues along with state and national events. Mercy and Glad enjoyed their time at their trailer at Fish Lake Campground and Snuffy's Resort. Glad was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and growing up as a tough farm girl, while growing up with 5 brothers. Glad will be remembered for her kind and giving soul, she was always so helpful and never said no.
