In 1976, Forrest was elected president of the Grand Island Board of Realtors, Realtor of the Year in 1981, and a Realtor of Distinction in 1990. He also served as director, regional vice-president and chairman of various committees for the Nebraska Realtors Association. In 1992, Forrest was appointed to the Nebraska Real Estate Commission as a broker member.
