Former Winsted Resident Dies Suddenly at Norfolk

Stewart E. Baxter, 45, of Greenwoods Road, Norfolk died suddenly this morning. He had been in fairly good health and his death was unexpected.
He was born in Wilson on August 22, 1922, the son of William and Mary (Neher) Baxter but had lived around here for a number of years. A resident of Norfolk for the past two years he went to there from Riverton. He had also lived in Winsted.
Mr. Baxter was a foreman at the Turner and Seymour Manufacturing Co., in Torrington. He was a member of Kehow Tribe of Red Men and the VFW Post 296. During World War II he served in the Navy.
His survivors include his wife, the former Priscilla M. Bond, of Winsted, one son, Robert Baxter; one daughter Miss Cheryl Baxter; his mother, now of New Hartford; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the John J. Shea Funeral Home at 99 Wheeler Street, with the Rev. Robert B. Doing, rector of St. James Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery.
The funeral home will be open Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish to call.
