Mabel Ross Jones
Mrs. Mabel Ross Jones, 95, of 2500 Kentucky Road died at 6 a.m. Saturday (May 14, 1988) in her home.
Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 13, 1892, in Golden, a daughter of Luther and Lillie Bacon Thomas. She married Dr. J. F. Ross in Golden on July 24, 1924. He died Feb. 3, 1962. She married Aubrey Jones Aug. 26, 1967. He died May 30, 1969.
Mrs. Jones was a music teacher in Plymouth and Golden after attending Northwestern University. She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church, Quincy City Club, Quincy Country Club, Blessing Hospital Women's Board and PEO Chapter F and OES. She was an avid bridge player.
Surviving are one nephew, C. Dean Thomas of Quincy; one niece, Mrs. Tom (Eileen) Irving of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; two stepsons, William Jones of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Harrison Jones of Washington, D.C.; two stepgrandsons, one step-granddaughter; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Carl and Arch.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack Newsome. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation or Vermont Street United Methodist Church.
