Born Jewell City KS, died Lone Pine CA. Son of James Reynolds Pounds Cooper and Sarah Taylor Cooper. Siblings include Alexander and Lucile. Children include Kenneth James, Hugh Alexander, Theodore Reynolds Jr., Elizabeth, and Dean.

Theo had five years of college and for some time was a school teacher. He spent most of his life, however, trying to farm around Sacramento, Butte, and Stanislaus Counties.


Theo's younger brother Alexander Taylor Cooper was also very bright. He joined the Army Medical Corps and reached the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1940. In the 1930s he wrote "The Pound Family," based on memories of his great aunt Naomi Pounds Cooper. In the age of the internet, this essay has gained wide currency as a foundational work for the Virginia branch of the Pound/s family. Col. Cooper died in 1949 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
