Maxine Cox Hobbs, 84, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in Myrtle Cemetery.

Maxine was born in Lindale, Texas, to the late Robert Taylor and Pearl Lee (Willingham) Cox. She grew up in Waxahachie, Texas, and attended school there. On May 24, 1972, she married Bobby Joe Hobbs and they made their home in Waxahachie before moving to Ennis in 1972. She worked for Haggar Slacks for 12 years as a seamstress. She was a member of the SPJST #135. She enjoyed reading and watching TV. Her passion was painting in oils. She loved to go to Shreveport and visit the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Hobbs on November 23, 2004; a son, Donald Childress on January 9, 2007; grandchildren, Rachel Childress and Robert Chambers; four sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by son, Ronald Childress, of Ennis; daughter, Pamela Gray and her husband, Henry, of Navarro Mills; grandchildren, Frank Williams, Angela Hobbs, Bryan Childress, Jana Childress, Dustin Gray, Gary Gray and Robin Gray; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and numerous friends.
