Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, January 10, 1922, pg 5 col 3: Martin Adams, Clothing Merchant of Chico, Dies Following Short Illness. Mratin Adams, 67 years old, a clothing merchant at 834 Main street, died last night about 8 o’clock at the Enloe hospital from peritonitis after an illness of a short time.

Although Adams had been indisposed for several weeks he had not been considered in a serious condition by his physician, Dr. E.L. Meyers, until Sunday. Monday Adams was taken to the Enloe hospital where he refused to undergo an operation for his ailment which was contrary to the advice of Dr. Meyers.

Adams will be remembered as being association with a man named Neman in the Newman Bargain house, which sold clothing at cut rates from the old Pentecostal building in Chapmantown.

The deceased was born in Kentucky October 4, 1854. He is survived by three daughters who reside at Dana, 15 miles north of Fall River Mills, Shasta county. Funeral arrangements, which are in charge of Fetters & Williams, have not been completed.
