From the 9/13/1914 Van Wert, Ohio, Daily Times: "John Armbrust, a well known resident of this city for about 30 years past, died at the home of Miss Rilla Files of North Walnut Street Saturday evening about 7 o'clock, as the result of a complication of diseases. Mr. Armbrust was born in Germany 56 years ago and came to this country about 1884, coming directly to this city, where he had made his home until about six months ago, when he removed to St. Paris, O. Recently his condition became so serious that he was brought to this city for an operation, but his condition was such that an operation was deemed inadvisable. He is survived by a son, Carl Armbrust, and two daughters, Mrs. Lola Flynn and Miss Vera Armbrust, all of St. Paris. Funeral arrangements have not been completed."

From the 9/15/1914 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin: "John Armbrush (sic), of St. Paris, formerly of this city, died Saturday evening of stomach and bowel trouble at the Files home, 413 North Walnut street, being recently removed there from the Van Wert County Hospital where he had been a patient. Mr. Armbrush was born in Rhyne Taels Byrne, Germany, June twenty-seventh, 1858, aged fifty-six years, two months and ten days. He came to America in the year of 1881 and settled in Van Wert being a resident of this city until last March when he removed to St. Paris. Mr. Armbrush was united in marriage with Emma Ossing, daughter of the late Michael F. Ossing. To this union were born three children, a son and two daughters, Mrs. J.W. Flinn, Miss Vera and Carl Armbrush, all of St. Paris. Funeral services over the remains will be held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church. The body will be laid to rest at Woodland cemetery."
