Born March 18, 1910, in Homewood Addition, Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie (Schilling) Burkey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Elbert Logsdon; two daughters, Joanne Marie Logsdon and Helen "Nellie" M. Briner; one son, Jerome "Jerry" T. Logsdon; two brothers, Charles Burkey; and Louis "Red" Burkey; one sister, Gertrude McFarland; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Logsdon was a homemaker, a nanny in the Bethesda, and Chevy Chase areas for over 20 years, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the church sodality. She was a former Girl Scout leader of the Shawnee Council of Cumberland and enjoyed cooking for her family.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Louise Mattingly and husband James, Winchester, VA; four sons, Gerald "Sonny" F. Logsdon, Cumberland; Stephen E. Logsdon and wife Constance, GA; Robert L. Logsdon and wife Marilyn, Hagerstown; William L. Logsdon, Sr. and wife Shirley, Cumberland; one sister, Helena Lowery, Cumberland; one brother, Peter Burkey, LaVale; 35 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA, Cresaptown, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. with Msgr. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
