The Juttner family story begins with Joseph Edward Juttner, Sr., birth in 1844. He left Germany and came to America in 1885, where he made his way to Chicago, Illinois. There he met and married his first wife, Anna Marie Ketwa (b. 1850 in Germany), on October 18, 1874. Five children were born to the couple, however only three survived into adulthood.

Joseph Sr., Anna Marie, and children Elizabeth, Joseph Jr., and Frank settled in Wheatland Township in northeastern Ford County. Tragically, Anna Marie died shortly after they arrived in 1879. She was 29 years old. At the time, the only Catholic Cemetery was in the German settlement of Windthorst. Anna Marie was laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Joseph Edward Juttner (1876-1954) married Carlina Heiland on February 5, 1901. Her parents, Ernest, and Mary Heiland, were early settlers in the area. Joseph, Jr., and Carlina raised four children.
A headstone in Zion Lutheran Cemetery reads: Frank Sohn Von Joseph and Anna Juttener Geborn AM December 19 1878 Gesturben AM April 28 1903. Frank was the youngest son and chose to keep the German spelling.
