Frank Hayden Curtiss was born October 1, 1877, two miles and a half east of Waverly in south Sangamon county.
He was the youngest child of Frdderick H. and Jane A. Brown Curtiss.
He was the youngest of eight children and all have preceded him in death.
He attended the Locust Grove School and later the Waverly schools.
Mr. Curtiss followed the farming industry on the farm on which he was born until 1914. At that time he moved to Waverly to a new house at 298 S. Pearl street where he lived until June of 1975.
He married Jenny Dial of Waverly and she died on August 21, 1959.
In 1926 he was made secretary of the Waverly Building and Loan Assn. and remained in that capacity until its liquidation in 1967.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church for 70 years and was secretary of the Board of Trustees for 60 years. He was also a church deacon for many years.
Mr. Curtiss passed away at 4:55 Friday at Hazelwood Village in Virden.
Services were held on Monday at Neece Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur R. Koch of the First Congregational Church of Springfield officiating.
He is survived by four nieces, Mrs. Margaret Woodruff, Mill Valley, Calif.; Mrs. Carolyn Wood, Santa Barbara, Calif.; Susanne G. Dennis, Sarasota, Fla.; and Mrs. Florence Stirman, Springfield; one nephew, Allen Foster Curtiss, Sarasota, Fla.; and several grand nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Waverly East cemetery.

He died in Hazelwood Village, Virden, Illinois.
