March 15, 1863 – February 5, 1898
Martha sold candy, lunch, pie, and donuts between railroad stations in uptown Beatrice. Married Christopher Columbus Husband on June 4, 1882 at Phelps, Missouri. Mrs. Martha Husband died early last Monday morning at her home on South Fifth Street of pneumonia. A Husband and four children are left to mourn her death. The remains were interred in Dunkard Cemetery nine miles north of the city.
------
The sad death of Mrs. Martha Husband occurred Monday 3:10 am. She had been sick for about four weeks with pneumonia first and in this weak condition before strength was fully gained she took the measles, from which she never recovered. During this sickness especially the last few days she spoke of a new determination to follow Jesus fully. Mr. Christopher Columbus Husband and four children, Joseph, Mary, Denie, and Ethel are the sorrowing remaining. Short services were held at the home, corner of Bell and Fifth streets by Rev. J.E. Young assisted by Miss Agnes N Ozman, missionary from South Ninth Street Mission where Mrs. Husband and children attended.
The remains were taken to Dunkard Church nine miles north of town- one child buried when funeral sermon was preached by Rev J.E. Young from the 39th. Songs sang at the funeral were "Take the name of Jesus with you" and "Shall we gather at the River"
