Hilliard - David Brantley Carter, 78 of Hilliard, passed away Thursday afternoon (September 26, 2013) at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, following an extended illness.
Born in Screven, GA. his parents were Ezra and Macie Lynn Carter.
David was a welder for the WATCO railroad and also severed in the United States Army. Also he attended Live Oak Baptist Church and loved fishing, hunting and tinkering with old junk.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Pauline Highsmith Carter, of Hilliard; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Hodges (Ricky), of Hilliard, Pam Driggers (Harold), of Hoboken; 3 grandchildren, Casey Hodges of Blakely, GA Cameron Driggers and Jade Driggers both of Hoboken; 1 great granddaughter on the way; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin & Ethelene (Coonie)Carter, of Jesup, Barney Carter, of Statesboro, Robert & Linda Carter of Jesup; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Lillian Holland ( Charles ) of Goodhope, GA., and Alma Loraine Rockefeller of Jesup, GA.;. and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held Saturday evening (September 28, 2013) starting at 6PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (September 29, 2013) at 3PM, at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Wolgamott officiating.
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Sistare, Mike Sistare, Carl Wilson, Jeff Highsmith, Charles Highsmith, Bert Rogers, Ricky Hodges & Harold Driggers. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Wise.
