MRS. ELLA ELIZABETH KING ABNEY, age 92, of Rome, Georgia formerly of Summerville, passed away Thursday morning in Rome. A native of Menlo, Georgia, She was born to the late James Edgar and Minnie McWhorter King on October 15, 1920. Mrs. Abney was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, retired social worker for the Chattooga County DFCS after 36 years of service, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Dwight Abney and brothers-the late James King and the late Paul King, Sr.. Surviving are Her son and spouse, James King and Charlene Abney of Rome; grandsons-Robert Kelly Abney and Jesse Aaron Abney; step grandson & spouse-Christopher and Patricia Watson; 1 Great Granddaughter; 3 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Step Great Great Grandchild; several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 P.M. from the Family plot in Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Scott Lambert officiating. Active Pallbearers-Marvin Howell, Scott Copeland, Malcolm Lee, John Stubbs III, Robert Abney, Jesse Abney, and Larry Schlachter. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
