Lewis Bates Is Dead; Once Ran Shoe Shop

Lewis A. Bates, 78, 2311 Beck SE, died of a heart ailment at 6 a.m. today in Warren Community Hospital.

A resident of the Warren area most of his life, he formerly resided in Middlefield.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Peerless Electric and at one time owned and operated a shoe repair business.

He was a member and lay minister in the Church of Christ in Christian Union.

He is survived by his wife, Grace.

Funeral services for Rev. Lewis A. Bates... who died Wednesday, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Roberts Memorial Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Born in Welshfield, Dec. 17, 1883, he was the son of Sterling and Julia Cramer Bates.

He was an ordained minister of the Church of Christ in Christian Union and retired from active preaching in 1961.

His only survivor is his wife Grace Tuttle Bates.
