Harry H. Heeke Dies

Harry H. Heeke, 87, died Dec. 16, 1989, at the Spearville District Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1902, in Ford County, near Windthorst, the son of Clem and Marie Droste Heeke. A Spearville resident since 1951, he was a retired farmer.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, both of Spearville.

On Aug. 21, 1928, he married Emmeline Ackerman at Windthorst. She died June 21, 1974. He later married May Tieben Feb. 13, 1981, at Windthorst. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Alfred, Spearville; three daughters, Evelyn Durler, Dodge City, Louise Downey, Juliana Durler, both of Wright; three stepsons, James Tieben, Benny Tieben, both of Dodge City; Lester Tieben, McGregor, Texas; three stepdaughters, Jane Nelson, Garden City, Marlene Humphries, Offerle, Esther Cox, Dodge City; a brother, Raymond, Bucklin; a sister, Sister Ignatia Heeke, Wichita; 19 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren; and 28 step great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, the Rev. William Vogel presiding.

Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst.
Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, was in charge of arrangements.
