Funeral services for Leo Francis Berry, 98, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Rev. Howard Buchanan officiated. Mr. Berry died Wednesday, Jan. 26 at his residence. He was a Boerne resident since 1978. He was born Dec. 31, 1901 in the Nile community in Milam County. Mr. Berry retired in 1966 from Hughes Tool Company and also worked as a farmer and rancher. He loved gardening, horses, cattle, baseball and basketball and was a devoted family man. Mr. Berry was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Boerne. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Jewell Guthrie Berry in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Bowman and husband Warner Lee of Boerne; two granddaughters, Sharnell Flournoy and husband Carlos DeLos Santos of Houston and Sharla Flournoy and fiancé Steve McKenna of New Orleans; special friend, Ty Rampy of Boerne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ty Rampy, Jim Gauntt, Weldon Guthrie, L.Vernon Guthrie, Don Guthrie and Chris Guthrie.
