"SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Ethel Aletha Robertson, 95, Savannah, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, in Savannah.

She was born June 1, 1907, in Deepwater, Mo. She was the eldest of five children born to O. L. and Jessie (Seevers) Bowman. She married Franklin G. Robertson. They lived and farmed in Fillmore, Mo., until his death in 1970. Ethel was a 1927 graduate of Savannah High School, where she won honors in many athletics. She went on to graduate from the former Platt-Gard Business College in St Joseph.

During World War II, she was head of the American Red Cross in Andrew County. She later worked with the Missouri Department of Revenue, from which she retired after 17 years. Then she managed the Duncan Hills Golf Course in Savannah for ten years. A woman ahead of her time, she will be remembered as a helpful, caring individual. Ethel loved her family intensely and had a host of friends.

Ethel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Franklin Gordon, Jr., and Marylyn of Shawnee, Kan.; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Vernon L. and Martha Jean Bowman of St Joseph; and a sister, Charlotte Bryant of Savannah. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Sage, and a brother, Lester Bowman.
