Obituary of Mrs. Nettie R. Dunkel was published in the Sioux City Journal, 2 December 1964, p. 32:
Mrs. Nettie Rawe Dunkel, 90, 1306 Pierce Street died Tuesday [November 24] at a hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Dunkel was born August 21, 1874 at Rantoul, Wis. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Rawe of Sioux City, John Rawe of Long Beach, Calif., and Alvin Rawe of Edmonds, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Sullivan of Sioux City, Mrs. Fern Bench of Alderwood Manor, Wash., and Mrs. Nettie Dunkel of Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother Milton Delano of Clarion, Iowa; and 13 grandchildren.
[Note: Nettie (Delano) Rawe Dunkel married (1) James William Rawe (1868-1918) about 1890; and married (2) Dominic Dunkel (1858-1944) on 9 September 1930 in Chicago. After his death, she returned to Sioux City in the mid 1940s and remained there until her death.]
