Barbara Ann Mitchener, 76, of Connersville, formerly of Hagerstown, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Lincoln Centers for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, where she had been a resident since April.

One of four children, she was born July 29, 1937 in Dublin, Indiana, the daughter of Frederick C. and Mary B. Brandenburg Grau. She was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Indiana and had lived in the Hagerstown area most of her adult life.

She was married to Raymond E. Mitchener.

For more than fifteen years, she was a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone of Cambridge City, Indiana. A devoted mother, grandmother and sister and an attender of the non-denominational church, in her leisure, she loved to work crossword puzzles and was an excellent cook/baker; as well as the family matriarch, her laugh and smile will always be in the hearts of those she gracefully touched.

Survivors include two children, Judy A. Berry of Hagerstown, Indiana and Charles R. Mitchener and his wife Jessica of Mount Vernon, Indiana, five grandchildren, Tyler A. Groves of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ryan P. Mitchener of Mount Vernon, Indiana, Noah A. Schlegel of Hagerstown, Indiana, Cadence E. Mitchener of Mount Vernon, Indiana and Izabella K. Mitchener of Mount Vernon, Indiana, two sisters, Linda Brandenburg and her husband Lowell of Centerville, Indiana and Mary Velie and her husband Mike of Connersville, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy Frank.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, September 23, 2013, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Dennis Kinnan and Scott Potter, officiating; burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 4 until 8 PM on Sunday; they may also visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com.
