Alfred Lewis, former resident of Medaryville, died at the Fairview hospital in Laporte Wednesday after an illness of three months suffering from cancer. He was sixty-nine years of age.
He was born March 27, 1875, in White County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lewis. On August 2, 1904, he married Dora Ellen Hall, who survives.
Other survivors besides the widow are four daughters, Mrs. Marion Cox of Oregon, Mrs. William Comer of Kingsford Heights, Mrs. Henry Butler of Gary, Miss Opal Lewis of Porter, two brothers, Emmett of Owen, Wis., and Charles of Buchanan, Michigan, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Hershman of Wanatah.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Medaryville Christian church, the Rev. H. F. Bulger in charge. Burial was in the Independence cemetery.
