She was born Dec. 2, 1894 in Bloomington, to Fredrick and Elizabeth Ellen (Nellie) Aland Jacobson. She was the third child in a family of six sisters and four brothers.
She married Merlin D. Stevens on June 10, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following their marriage, they lived in Bloomington until 1917. They then moved to Montpelier where they have since resided.
She spent her entire life being a devoted wife and a wonderful homemaker.
She attended Idaho schools in Bloomington and also the Fielding Academy in Paris.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many church positions. She was especially interested in the youth organizations of the church and was the first president of the Primary in the Fourth Ward and later president of the Second Ward Primary. She was head of the Youth Leadership program in the Second Ward and worked in the MIA and in the Sunday School. She also served in the PTA. She was well known for her ability to give readings and to sing. She has sung in several quartets and ward choirs.
She is survived by her husband, Montpelier, one son, Arvel M., Seattle, two daughters, Jeannine M. Stevens, Roy, and Mrs. Paul (Marlene) Kunz, Bern, 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, one brother, Cyril Jacobson, Bloomington, three sisters, Vada Shepherd, Ogden, Lenna Cook and Alice Moss, Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by one son, DeVerl F. who died in World War II, and three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Montpelier Stake Center. Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
