LAST RITES FOR JOHN B. SIMMONS
Last rites for John B. Simmons, beloved 83-year-old retired farmer of Magnolia, Route one, were held Tuesday, February 26, at two o'clock from Union Church.
Mr. Simmons passed away at his residence Monday morning at 5:25, after having been in failing health for about one year. He had lived in the same community through most of his long and useful life and was highly regarded by all his associates.
The Rev. Frank Hutson of Lexie, Miss., was the officiating minister at funeral services, with friends of the Simmons family serving as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. J.B. Simmons; by two daughters, Miss Alice Simmons, Hattiesburg, and Miss Jewel Simmons, Magnolia; by two sons, Helmer and Prentiss Simmons, both of Magnolia; one granddaughter, Miss Madeline Pezant, Magnolia, and by a host of other relatives.
Interment was in the Union Church cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of services.
