J.R. Blount's obit and a thank you card from his wife are in the Sept 19, 1918 issue of the Bainbridge Post Search-Light, page 2 on line in the South Ga historical newspaper project. She mentions friends from Chattahoochee, Florida being kind.

He is also listed in this same newspaper in the Thursday, June 24, 1920 issue page 1, as a private in the Decatur County Chapter of Confederate Veterans, Camp No 1043. He is listed as serving in Company B of the 5th Florida Cavalry.
