LYONS - Lois Arlene Martin, 79, died Sept 19, 2013, at her residence in Lyons. She was born June 17, 1934, in Burden, Kan., the daughter of George Washington and Nina Viola Johnson Walton.
A Lyons resident since 1964, she was a graduate of Wellington High School, a waitress at Jones Bakery and a Nurse Aid at Pioneer Manor and Lyons Nursing Home, retiring in 1976. Her memberships included: United Methodist church, United Methodist Women and was an active leader with Camp Fire Girls and Cub Scouts for over 15 years. On Oct 11, 1954, she married Lyle Martin in Wellington, Kan. Survivors include: her husband, Lyle of the home; two daughters, Betty Martin of Lyons and Lyletta Lanci of Great Bend; two brothers, Ronnie Walton of Wellington and Dale Walton of Sedan; two sisters, Linda Mercer of Sanford, Texas, Pat Ripper of Braman, Okla.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Pringle, Don Walton and George Walton; sister, June Armstrong.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Burial will be in the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Memorials to the local Cub Scout Pack #164 in lieu of flowers, in care of the funeral home.
