From the History of Princeton -
GATES Clessrow, son of Clark and Margaret Gates, born in
Chelsea, Vt., Oct. 19, 1823; died in Princeton, Dec. 18, 1898;
married (i^*^) 1849, N. Elvira Pond, born in Hubbardston,
March, 1825, died Dec. 12, i860. He married (2'') Mary P.
(Rice) Chickering and came to live on the Ira Rice place in
Princeton (now owned by Miss Fuller) about July, 1861,
Here he worked at his trade of boot maker, but later moved
to the Isaac Thompson place, where he engaged in farming.
Children by first marriage were :
i. Ada-L., b. July 22, 1851, in Hubbardston, d. in Princeton, March
17, 1893.
ii. Adelia-S., b. Aug. 6, 1854, in Hubbardston, d. Aug. 10, 1855.
iii. MoNTORE, b. Aug. 8, 1856, m, (ist) Dec. 9, 1886, Almeda F.
Chickering, dau. Jonas and Almeda (Richardson) Chickering,
b. in Grafton, Mass., 1863. She d. July 3, 1887. He m. (2^*)
Ella M. Babson, dau. of Isaac and AdeHne S. (Bradford) Bab-
son, b. South Windham, Conn., Oct. 25, 1863. Their chn. b.
in Princeton were: (i) Charles-Milton, b. May 20, 1895,
(11) Harold-Bab SON, b. Jan. 11, 1898.
iv. Ventland, b. Jany. 8, 1859, d. in Princeton, Aug. 6, 1903.
