Mary Lou Esterholdt Black passed away Thursday Jan. 10, 2013 while being transported
from the Bear Lake Manor to the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mary Lou was born June 11, 1927 to Hyrum and Mary Esterholdt in Pegram the youngest child of seven children. On Feb. 7, 1945 she married Berdean Black and had two children LewDean and Teresa. Her marriage to Berdean was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1951.
Mary Lou spent most of her life living in Pegram being raised on her parents' ranch and then working a ranch of their own with her husband, Berdean.
Mary Lou was a wonderful wife and mother to her children, but was also able to take care of any chore that was needed on the ranch from doing the calving, packing water to the cattle and feeding the men and putting up hay.
Mary Lou loved get-togethers with family and friends, church socials, camping, square dancing and fishing, often telling stories of fishing in the river when she was younger and shooting flying rabbits as she called sage hens.
Mary Lou was very faithful to her LDS religion and attended services as long as she was able.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, five brothers, one sister, her son LewDean, and one great-grandson. She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Steve) Hailstone of Twin Falls and Pegram, a grandson K.C. Hailstone of Twin Falls, and Pegram; five granddaughters, Kimberli (Shawn) Freilinger of Monmouth, Ore., Regan (Adam) Newberry of Twin Falls, Tiffany (Jeff) Spraker of Pocatello, Becky Black of Montpelier, and LuDene (Pete) Avila of Glob, Ariz. Nine great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

Services for Mary Lou Esterholdt Black will be at the Montpelier LDS First and Fourth ward chapel, Thursday Jan. 17 at 1 p.m., with a viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Internment will be at the Montpelier Cemetery.
