Margaret was born May 7, 1917 in Delaware, IA; the daughter of William A. and Emma (Gienapp) Hillers. She moved to South Dakota as a child and in 1943, moved to Davenport. She was united in marriage to Walter Paul on June 7, 1941 in Sioux Falls, SD; he preceded her in death on November 13, 2003. She was an exceptional and very loving wife, mother and sister. She was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she made over one thousand quilts for Lutheran World Relief with other quilters of the church together known as the "Bag Ladies." Margaret was active in the Valparaiso University Guild and an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals for many years.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters: Mary (Robert) Miles, Bay City, MI; Susan Paul, Ft. Wayne, IN; Rachel (Roger) Lamp, Mason City, IA and Edyth (Jeff Clark) Paul, Alexandria, VA; sons: James (Sandy) Paul, New York, NY; Timothy (Leslie) Paul, San Diego, CA; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sisters: Betty (Dr. David) Thurston, Ithaca, NY and Wilma Simmons, Fairfield Bay, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Dr. Delbert Hillers; sisters Delores Scott and Ruth Scherschligt; one grandchild and one great grandchild.
