Jackie's Mother, Father, and her 2 Aunts, Bessie and Mamie, all worked in the textile mills during her childhood, and would bring home leftover materials, which Lillie would then use to make beautiful clothing for Jackie.
Jackie met her future husband, Eddie Hill, at the age of 14, when he rented a room in her grandmother's boarding house. It was love at first sight and just 3 months after Jackie turned 15, they were married on June 4, 1940.
Jackie and Eddie had 7 children: Gwendolyn Geraldine, Janet Eddirita(Rita), Eddie Jr., Patricia Joyce, Yvette(Debbie)Darlene, Cheryl Celeste, and Gary Wayne.
When Eddie suffered a Cerebral Hemorrhage in 1968, Jackie was at his bedside for the entire 6 weeks he was in a coma. Thereafter, she was his constant caretaker and companion, until the day he died in Jan. 1994. When ever-growing medical bills continued to rise, she had to take a job to make ends meet. She worked at Dillard's Dept. Store, near their home, so she could come home to fix Eddie's lunch everyday. Her strength and dedication to her husband, were admired by all...their life-long love for one another, was an inspiration for all that knew them.
