FINAL RITES TODAY FOR MRS. ADA PAULEN
A lifelong resident of DeKalb county, Mrs. Ada Paulen, age 86, died in the Brouse Convalescent home near Butler about 10 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Paulen was hit by a boy on a bicycle in Auburn two years ago and she suffered a broken hip as a result of the accident. The complications of old age and of the broken hip caused her death.
After the accident in Auburn, at which time she was rooming in Auburn, Mrs. Paulen was taken to the Dr. J.A. Sanders hospital and remained there for some time before being taken to the convalescent home.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1865, in Jackson township, DeKalb county, the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Carnahan. On April 10, 1884, she and Jacob Paulen, a farmer, were united in marriage. Mr. Paulen passed away 11 years ago.
The couple resided on a farm near Auburn from the year 1901 until the husband died. After his death Mrs. Paulen resided in the home of her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Paulen of 1312 Pearl street, Auburn, and in other homes in Auburn.
Surviving besides the son are four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Harry Carnahan of Rt. 2, Auburn. Two sisters preceded Mrs. Paulen in death.
Mrs. Paulen was a member of the Hopewell U.B. church.
The body was removed to the Dilgard & Cline funeral home, Auburn for burial preparations and will remain there for funeral services which will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. M. B. Knisel, pastor of the Leo U. B. church will officiate at the services and burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery near Auburn.
