Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Haskin, age 93, were conducted Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Methodist church in Creighton with the Rev. H.F. Beebe officiating. Interment was in the Millerboro cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed and Norman Raff, Sam Swetland, Ed Williamson, Perry Lichy and George Harvey.
Mrs. Haskin passed away Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mercedes Hubbard. She had lived on the same farm in Antelope county for the past 75 years.
Mary Sophia Brandt was born Oct. 5, 1858 in Ironton, Wis. On. Oct. 10, 1873 she was united in marriage to Wallis R. Haskin. They came to Nebraska in July of the following year and settled on a homestead north of Royal, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Seven sons and five daughters were born to this union.
Surviving are six sons, Jasper, Walter and Bryan, with whom she made her home, all of Royal, Elmer and Floyd of Creighton and Julius of Torrington, Wyo.; three daughters, Mrs. Mercedes Hubbard, Mrs. Blanche Raff and Mrs. Eva Raff, all of Creighton; 36 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and one brother and one sister in Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters and one son, the latter in 1896.
All of her surviving children were home several days preceding her death and for the funeral. Her brother and sister of LaPorte City and Waterloo, Ia. were here for the funeral.
