Archillas Hegwood died Tuesday, October 12, 1920, at the home of his son, Henry Hegwood, in Highwater township, where he has made his home since the death of his wife, which occurred last April.
Deceased was born in Illinois on October 20, 1844, and when still a young man moved to Iowa. In 1865 he was united in marriage to Mary Demoss, and to this union thirteen children were born, ten of whom are still living. Besides these children, he is survived by fifty grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
Mr. Hegwood’s death was caused by dropsy, from which he has been a great sufferer for many years. He was a devout christian, a faithful husband and a beloved father.
The sincere sympathy of the neighbors and friends goes out to the bereaved ones.
