PAUL F. SKILLMAN - Funeral rites for Paul Frederick Skillman were held at the United Brethren chuch, Thursday afternoon, Mar. 31 at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. E.F. Seward, pastor of the church. Pam Monroe soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. O.D. Meisenheimer. Casket bearers were: Glenn Stanley, Raymond Stephens, James Brown, Bob McLeod, Bob Jefferson and Bill Thornbrgh. Burial was in the Garnett cemetery. Paul Frederick Skillman, eldest son of Frederick and Pauline Skillman, was born Dec. 28, 1915, at Rockville, Mo. He passed away Mar. 27, 1966, at his home in Garnett, Kas., at the age of 50 years, two months and 27 days. As a young boy he came to Kansas with his parents, settling in Garnett, where he had lived until his death. He was united in marriage to Nadine McCain on Dec. 31, 1945. To this union were born five children; three daughters, Keeta, Paula, and Pamela, and two sons, Richard and Kenneth, all of the home. He also had two sons by a previous marriage, Larry and Darrell, both living in Oregon. Paul was very active with, and had a great interest in the youth of the community, having managed and coached a soft ball team for several years. He was Deputy Commissioner of the Soft Ball League of Eastern Kansas and he leaves many pleasant memories with all who worked with him. In 1959 he united withe United Brethren church in Garnett and remained a member until his passing. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife and children, his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Deane L. Smith; one brother, Darrel of San Jose Calif.; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. - The Garnett Review, Garnett, Kansas, Monday, April 4, 1966, page, 5, column 3 and 4.
