John H. Marcin, T/Sgt. USAF retired, 74, of Swoyersville, died June 27, 2009, at Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.

Born on January 10, 1935, in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late John and Mary Olejnik Marcin. He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School, Class of 1952. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Swoyersville. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also worked several years for Asplund and was a member of the IBEW Union 1319. He was a member of the Catholic War Vets; life member of the American Legion of Swoyersville, Post 644; member of the VFW Post 283, Kingston; and a member of the Paradise Social Club of Swoyersville. He was a past councilman of Swoyersville and also served as chairman for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ryoko Marcin, who passed away on April 4, 2009.

He is survived by his sisters, Sister Florence SSCM, Danville; Mary Marcin, West Wyoming; Ann Cencetti, Whitesboro, NY; brothers, Joseph G., Swoyersville; Vince, Noxen; Mark, Swoyerville; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A private funeral was held June 30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Church, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, 18704 or to the Sister of SSCM, Villa Sacred Heart, Railroad Street, Danville, 17821. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bednarski Funeral Home, Wyoming.
