Graveside service for Lola Hurley Wyatt, 102, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday September 18, 2013, at the Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Texas with the Rev. Bob Jones, pastor of Cameron Baptist Church, officiating.
Miss Lola entered into heaven at the age of 102 years, 5 months, and 13 days. She passed away at her home in Lawton.
Miss Lola was born on April 3rd, 1911 in San Angelo, Texas to Moses Hurley Wyatt and Lillar Mai Patrick Wyatt. She moved with her family at the age of 5 in a covered wagon to Wichita Falls, Texas. Her dad would work at Call Field Army Air Corps base during World War I. They moved back to San Angelo after the war, where her dad died suddenly in 1934, leaving Miss Lola to care for her mother. Miss Lola was student teaching but gave it up to take a job at the Five & Dime Store to become the breadwinner of the family. With her God gifted talent in art, she would do store fronts of businesses in town. With her art and experience she applied at Shell Oil Company and went to work as a draftsman in Texas. She retired after working at Shell for 28 years. Over all of her life she was the care giver for her sister's husband. Later when Bob, her nephew, needed her she moved back to Wichita Falls until he passed away in 2002. Putting her life aside to care for her family, she never married. Moving to Lawton, she restored the paintings of The Saints at the Holy City Chapel in the Wichita Mountains and was made an Honorary Member of the Holy City of The Wichita's in Lawton, Oklahoma. She played the piano and taught painting and china painting classes. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church. Her first friend and Realtor in Lawton, Sue Wiginton, whom she relied on and took many trips to the Wichita Mountains, will miss her greatly.
When she no longer could live without help she called Cameron Baptist Church needing help. Linda Purdue came to help her in her home in April 2004, developing a very close relationship of over nine years. Over the years more relationships were added to help Miss Lola stay in her home; Elfriede Werdehoff, Susan Carson and Irmi Alfar became her girls. Miss Lola has many friends and neighbors that she has touched and loved. Her cousin Bill, whom Miss Lola had helped care for a short time in his younger life, came back into her life to offer his assistance to her.
Miss Lola will be missed by all her many friends and loved ones who knew and loved her. She would want to say a very special thank you to Promise Care Hospice of Lawton, as the love and care they gave her truly was the answered prayer to stay in her home.
She leaves her cousins, Bill Patrick and Richard Patrick of Wichita Falls, Texas, Grace Patrick of California, Arthur Patrick of Lawton, Oklahoma, Carol Craig of New Castle, Oklahoma and Mickey Patrick of Arkansas; all of who will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two sisters, Josie Lee Cobb and Ave Mae Wyatt, nephew Bob Jones, and cousins, Ellen Thieme and Harvey Patrick.

Memorial contributions may be made to Promise Care Hospice, 4202 SW Lee Blvd., Lawton, OK 73505, or to Cameron Baptist Church, 2620 SW C Ave, Lawton, OK 73505, in memory of Miss Lola H. Wyatt.
