Elgene Goebel Williams, 94, of Evansville, IN, passed away on August 7, 2022. She was born in Evansville, IN on March 18, 1928 to the late Emil and Lorena Goebel.
Elgene was a lifetime member of St Paul's UCC German Township. She was a member of the Reitz Big Blue Boosters Club, as well as, a volunteer in the Reitz Athletic Office since 1968 (54 years). Elgene was a member of the USI Varsity Club and was a season ticket holder since it was known as ISUE and played their games at the Centennial gym. She loved the Chicago Cubs and finally got to see them win the World Series in 2016.

Elgene was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John C. Williams and brothers, Russell Goebel and Ralph Goebel.

She is survived by sons, Tim (Johnnie) Williams and Jeff Williams; sister, Sarah Guinn & sister-in-law, Joyce Goebel; grandchildren, Jennifer (Keith) Schulz, Jason (Stephanie) Williams, Jessica (Sean) Hopple and Meredith (Chris) Baggett; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Terry Farmer, with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit from 3:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, and, on Friday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
