The History of the Board of Trade of the city of Chicago, Volume 3, Part 1 has a biography listing his parents, Hiram and Amelia Culver Hulburd. Also, it appears he was in business with his cousin, Charles Tilden Hulburd (b 9/24/1885 - 22 Dec 1916), son of Oscar T Hulburd.... He graduated 1871 from Oberlin and 1873 with a Law Degree from Univ of NY. Early in Chicago he was in business with his uncles, Charles E and George N Culver.

Hulburd was also a supporter of the Friends of American Art (ie Art Institute of Chicago) and a member of the Chicago Plan Commission when it was preparing its 1919 Plan of Chicago. His house at 40 Lake Shore Drive was designed by Frederick Wainwright Perkins, who also designed the Elgin National Watch Company's office [Silversmith Bldg) on Wabash Avenue. There is a photo on Flickr that says 1243-45 N State Pkwy was the 1880 home of Charles H Hulburd, so perhaps he moved to LSD later.

Thank you to Rommy Lopat for the bio.
