Finley married Minnie Matilda SANDERS BARDEN in 1933, when he was 32 years old. She had previously been married to Fred Marvin BARDEN who died 30 Dec 1932.
The top photo at the right shows Finley as a young man, aged 26, in 1927. How we loved that wonderful uncle!
Uncle Finley was truly like a father to my sister Jean and me, especially after our parents died. He was always loving, he was always there when we needed him.
When a little older I followed him everywhere he went while he was working near the house. Tired of my questions and often stepping on the rope he was using, he finally asked, "Don't you ever run out of questions?" My reply was, "No, how am I going to learn anything if I don't ask questions!"
He was the greatest! The entire family LOVED Finley, the best son, brother and uncle you could ask for, anywhere on Gods' green earth.
In the second photo are (left to right) siblings Winnie Pearl DICKINSON ROGERS BRAUN, her twin brother, Finley Earl DICKINSON, and their sister, Eva Laura DICKINSON MARSHALL. The photo was taken at a MARSHALL and DICKINSON gathering at Eagle Lake, Texas at the home of Eva Laura's daughter, Evelyn Roberta MARSHALL THOMAS. The photo is from a collection owned by Ella Faye JOHNSON. Her mother, Mary Ellen DICKINSON FLENNIKEN, was Winnie Pearl's, Finley Earl's and Eva Laura's sister. Please do not replicate this photo or use it in any way without first getting Ella Faye's permission and then not without identifying Ella Faye as the source and owner of the photo.
