NANTZ, Adelaide Alexander, 68, of Salem died Thursday, May 22, 1997 due to complications from Acute Leukemia. An Avid Naturalist and Lovingly committed mother and grandmother, Ms. Nantz was preceded in death by her son, Harold Blick Nantz. A native of Mooresville, N.C. she was a Salem resident for the past 36 yrs and employed by Belks Department Store at the time of her death. She was also a Roanoke County School Bus driver for over 10 years.
She is survived by her former husband, Harold Jay Nantz of Vinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Ponza and Mark Atkinson of Salem; Paige and Sam Johnston of Woodbine, Md; Patricia and David Bowers of Salem; Penni Lawrence Riley of Salem; sisters, Jane A. Hudson of Mooresville, N.C. Mary Lee Alexander also of Mooresville, N.C. nine grandchildren, Clara, Jane Atkinson, Matthew (Sparky) Atkinson, Jeb Stuart Johnston, Samantha Lee Johnston, Kyle Meade Johnston, Drew Bowers, Kelly Paige Bowers, A. Wrenn Lawrence, Seth Easton Riley also a very special friend, Wilma Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted from the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel, Salem, Saturday, May 24, 1997 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Kenneth Kingrea. Interment will take place at the Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Morresville, N.C. Sunday at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 24, 1997 from 12 noon to 2 p.m at the funeral home.
