Olivia C. Miley, age 89, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Olivia was born April 30, 1924 in Menominee, Nebraska to Rudolph and Katherine (Tramp) Meier. She grew up in Menominee where she graduated from St. Boniface Catholic School. After school, Olivia worked at the Cedar Café in Hartington, Nebraska. In 1946, she married Clarence Hegge. They lived in Hartington for several years before moving to Coleridge, Nebraska. Clarence worked at different farms in Hartington, Coleridge and Randolph, Nebraska. After Clarence's death in 1959, Olivia moved to a farm outside of Coleridge and worked nights at the Wagon Wheel Steakhouse in Coleridge. In 1965, she married Arnold Sigel and moved to Utica, South Dakota where they farmed with Arnold's brother, George. Arnold passed away in 1971 and Olivia moved to Yankton. She married Elmer Miley in 1976. They were active members of the Yankton Senior Center and Antique Auto Association. Olivia enjoyed many hobbies, including needlework, crafts, painting, playing cards, bingo, golfing, bowling, water aerobics, traveling, line dancing and square dancing. She also loved gardening and enjoyed her many plants and flowers. Olivia was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Rosary Makers. She cherished the times all the family gathered together. Olivia was a wonderful listener to her children and grandchildren. She always had a sense of humor and saw the best in everyone she met.

Olivia is survived by her six children: Pat Jansen of Omaha, NE, Norma (Gene) Nedved of Yankton, LeRoy (Barb) Hegge of Minneapolis, MN, Marlene Tieszen of Vermillion, SD, Rodney (Dawn) Sigel of Omaha, NE and Connie (Dale) Bromley of Yankton; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, James (Patricia) Meier and Ron (Mary) Meier, both of Hayward, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Clarence Hegge, Arnold Sigel and Elmer Miley; daughter, Donna Gebel; one brother, Robert Meier; and five sisters: Genevieve Bracht, Sr. Mary Winifred Meier, Josephine Eischen, Edith Dirks and Delilah Gothier.

Pallbearers are Mike Jansen, Mark Nedved, Kelly Bromley, Luke Hegge, Chris Tieszen, Jessica Sigel and Daisy Gebel.
