Reed was born to Milton and Mildred Buttars, and had lived in Nevada for the past 35 years, coming from Burley. He had been a heavy equipment operator in the construction and mining businesses and had been a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife, Gina Lee Buttars of Carlin; children, Rodd Buttars of Prosser, WA, Tab Buttars of Burley, Brock Buttars of Holladay, UT, Ty Buttars of Boise, Marty Heath of Carlin, Nikki Huckins of Pleasant Valley, NV, Heath Cunningham of Boise, Nicholas Lee, Anna Lee and Emily Booth all of Carlin; sisters, Deanna Grundmeyer of Reno, Brenda Bailey and Veronica Brand of Salt Lake City and Jamene Stackler of San Luis Obispo, CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Dell Harris Buttars on March 19, 1990, and his father, Milton Rudger Buttars.
