Rulon Hawkins Rasband, 78, died Thursday, August 4, 1988.
He was born September 9, 1909 in Salt Lake City to Charles and Esther Hawkins Rasband. He married Margaret Bourne. They later divorced. He married Verda Anderson August 10, 1947 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a longtime salesman for Continental Baking Co. He was a starting guard on the University of Utah football team. He loved sports, family, friends, and his church.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving four missions including German-Austrian and Florida Fort Lauderdale, and numerous ward and stake positions, including ward clerk in the Cottonwood 9th and 11th Wards for 11 years. He was a Jordan River Temple worker for five years.
Survivors include his wife of Salt Lake City: three sons and a daughter, Ronald A. Rasband of Salt Lake City, Russell B. Rasband of Roy, S. Neil Rasband of Orem, and Mrs. Baldur (Nancy) Schindler of San Diego; one brother and sister, Virgil Rasband of Salt Lake City, and Fern Walgreen of Sun City, California; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral is Tuesday at noon in the Cottonwood 11th Ward church. Burial will be in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
