William Cochran, of Co. F, enrolled Sep. 22, 1861 in Waterloo by Capt. Merrill as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 18. He was 5Œ 7 tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair. Born Jan. 27, 1844 in Erie Co., OH, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Jarvis, in DeKalb Co., IN. Discharged for disease Aug. 11, 1862 in Indianapolis, IN with rank of Private. Notes: On sick leave to the doctor. Discharged for phthisis pulmonalis (TB) hereditary tendency existing prior to enlistment. William E. Cochran filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #309685 May 24, 1880; Sarah A. Landis filed Widowfs Pension Application #1043678 Mar. 17, 1915, in MI; also listed 1st Indpt.
