Mr. Willis M. Filkel, 72, of Noel, Missouri formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, departed this life on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri after a long illness.

Willis entered this life on March 5, 1941 in Jay, Oklahoma to the late Clifford M. and Delvina Louise (Underwood) Filkel. He was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a 1959 graduate of Will Rogers High School. He furthered his education by receiving his bachelor's degree from Tulsa University. On March 17, 1961 in Tulsa, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Borden and to this union a son and daughter were born. They resided in Tulsa until moving to Jay, Oklahoma in 1986 and later to Noel, Missouri in 2012. Throughout his life he worked in the field of sales. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Willis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Noel, Missouri.

Willis is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara Filkel of the home; two children, David Filkel of Jay, Oklahoma and Stacy Stigall and husband, Brian, of Noel, Missouri; four grandchildren, BJ Stigall, and wife, Heather, as well as Josh and Lisi Stigall, and Tim Filkel; a sister, Nancy Raulston of Dallas, Texas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Filkel are 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Noel, Missouri with Bro. Brian Stigall officiating. Burial will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery near Noel, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are David Filkel, BJ Stigall, Josh Stigall, Stan Amos, Steen Aiken, Mike Brown, Scott Wofford and Dean England. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3-4:00 p.m. in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to R.Z.I.M. Ministries and contributions may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Missouri.
