Obituary: Eleanor Gibbs

Eleanor Elizabeth Gibbs, 86, of Columbia died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Columbia Manor Care Center.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Parker Funeral Service with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the funeral home.

Ms. Gibbs was born Oct. 30, 1911, in Columbia to Robert and Nellie Jordan Gibbs.

She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1933 and retired after 35 years of employment as administrative secretary of First Baptist Church in 1984.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Columbia Business and Professional Women's Association.

Survivors include a sister, Katherine Chamberlain of Los Angeles, and a brother, Dudley Gibbs of Ogden, Utah.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
